You can stroll through the historic center of Carpentras, at the Friday morning Provençal market, in the picturesque perched villages, towards the Dentelles de Montmirail, the ochres of Roussillon or Colorado de Rustrel, the cellars from Gigondas or Beaumes de Venise, the slopes of Mont Ventoux for lovers of wild nature (by bike or on foot), towards Avignon, Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine for culture and history or even towards Abbey of Senanque, or the village of Venasque.

500m from the Mas!

By a small road from the Relais des Garrigues, you reach the large cycle path La Via Venaissia! It connects the old station of Jonquières to Carpentras, passing through Sarrians and Loriol-du-Comtat

 (about 15 km)

In a few years it will link Orange to Isle-sur-Sorgues. An overall plan plans to connect Via Venaissia to la ViaRhôna (EV17)North and at the Calavon cycle route (EV8), South.

​

With Mont Ventoux  placed in the center of its territory , the Vaucluse asserts its attachment to cycling. will climb this mythical mountain during that others will prefer small country roads with magnificent landscapes. Lgreenways departing from Apt, Jonquières and Caderousse,  enables family cycling in complete safety. Finally, for lovers of itinerant mountain biking, "the great crossing of the Vaucluse offers you a very technical marked route with 9900 m of elevation gain.

Canoeing down the Sorgue, rowing on the Rhône, fishing, swimming, walking up rivers on hot days, windsurfing on bodies of water, water park, leisure center, water is present everywhere in Provence and allows activities for all tastes.

Golf course...

Golf in Provence offers sunny courses around oleanders, pines and olive trees, and fragrant lavender. The greens are very green all year round. Three 18-hole courses and a 9-hole course are close to major tourist sites, Avignon, L'Isle sur la Sorgue or Orange.

The Vaucluse has a particular history which today gives it a strong identity.The Romans- un siècle BC- open roads, build bridges, theatres, aqueducts and cities: Orange, Vaison-la-Romaine, and not far from St Rémy, Arles, Nîmes and the Pont du Gard...

Avignon, City of the Popes...

In the 14th century, the Vaucluse sees the installation of the papal court en Avignon,and the construction of the Palace of the Popes. Neuf papes will reign there and transform the cité into an artistic and commercial crossroads. It can be visited with an audio guide in 11 languages.The St Benezet Bridge, built in the 12th century was damaged and rebuilt several times. Today 4 arches remain out of the original 22.

The Avignon festival.

Created by Jean Vilar in 1947, the Avignon Festival is one of the oldest and most famous theater festivals. It takes place every year in July for  3 weeks

 

From August to October, you can attend theLuminessences: un monumental video show in the heart of the Palais des Papes.

the WEALTH of the TERROIR

The Vaucluse collects the designations of origin: the melon of Cavaillon, the olive oil of Provence is an AOC, the strawberry is of Carpentras, the reason of table is the muscat of Ventoux. Added to this are the vineyards and some ancestral flavors such as candied fruit from Apt, nougat and berlingots from Carpentras, spelled from Haute Provence, black truffle, honey and lavender.​
